This appeal requires that we determine whether, when an officer's suspicion of a criminal violation that prompted him to stop a vehicle has been dispelled, the officer may nonetheless detain the vehicle's driver for the purpose of requesting production of the driver's license and proof of insurance. We hold that such an extension of the vehicle stop is reasonable and consistent with the Fourt Amendment.
